Adele Ne Jame is a first-generation Lebanese American who has lived in Hawai‘i since 1969. She currently serves as Professor Emerita at Hawaiʻi Pacific University and has also served as a Mikhail Series lecturer at the University of Toledo and poet-in-residence at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has published three books of poems, including The South Wind. Her many awards include a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship in poetry, an Elliot Cades Award for Literature, and a Pablo Neruda Poetry Prize. Her broadsides, produced in collaboration with her artist daughter, Melissa Chimera, were exhibited at the Sharjah/Dubai International Biennial and at the Arab American National Museum. For the ezine Vice-Versa, she curated “Women in Times of Conflict,” a feature of writing and visual art by women of the Middle East.
