Marianne Villanueva is the author of the novella Jenalyn, which was a finalist for the UK’s Saboteur Award, and the short story collections Ginseng and Other Tales from Manila (a finalist for the Philippines’ National Book Award), Mayor of the Roses, The Lost Language, and Residents of the Deep. She has been a finalist for the O. Henry Literature Prize and nominated five times for the Pushcart. Her stories have appeared in ZYZZYVA, Threepenny Review, Wigleaf, and Witness, among others. She teaches creative writing online for UCLA Extension’s Writers Program.
